String Cheese Incident spin-off EOTO announces Spring Tour

EOTO
EOTO (End of Time Observatory) is proud to announce its 2007 spring tour. Michael Travis and Jason Hann (both members of the String Cheese Incident) take on different roles in this non-stop show that bridges the gap between the energy of a live band and DJ-played club music. Travis mans the stringed instruments and keys along with various effects and loops while Hann displays his drum set prowess.

In order to cement themselves on the "musician" side of electronica, EOTO is less about the gadgets and all about the dance party. "We use gear as a way of being able to do all of this live with just the two of us and no pre-recorded tracks, but our goal is to be able to create new club music on the spot and put it down as quickly as if you were dropping a needle on the latest new track - without stopping the dance flow all set or all night" says Hann. EOTO hits the groove hard with their brand of live breakbeat, house, drum 'n' bass, and trip-hop club genres.

Stops throughout the Midwest as well as festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Wakarusa highlight the spring tour for this duo. The upcoming dates cap off a winter schedule that brought out more and more fans with every stop hungry for that "next thing." That Next Thing happens to be EOTO. Their high energy, danceable shows will cover the Midwest from Texas to Wisconsin with many stops in between much to the satisfaction of fans everywhere.

EOTO tour dates available HERE.

These guys played Martin's in Jackson MS a few times. Both were fucking ill. Who knew travis could play stringed instruments?

Travis has written some really good songs for SCI. I think Rainbow Serpent is his. Although, this project sounds good, I want to see it.

Saw EOTO after Cheese in Atlanta. Wasn't that impressed. Kang came out for a minute, which was kind of cool, but the techno is just not my scene.

Roll Over was written by Kang and Dain Pape. Trav has been playing guitar for years though the first time he started playing stringed instruments in a band was bass for Zuvuya I believe.

SONIC BLOOM!!! I was at Bassnectar with EOTO opening in Lawrence at Jakes Landing(very sweet place) and it was fucking ragein till 4:00 in the morning. I'm really into STS9 and like the new Digital scene. I think having the ability to advatage of technolgogy and incorporate that in music is a hard thing to do and alot of people think differ. It is not easy for one person to play a sick show like Bassnectar, it's talent and I like it.

is there a laptop player in this band?

i believe Travis plays lead laptop while Jason Hann plays rhythm laptop. Kang will also be handling laptop duties if he makes a guest appearance (i.e Sonic Boomfest(saying this ouy loud may bring back memories of Street Fighter II Champion Addition (Guile))) which looks quite likely. In addition the audience members are encouraged to bring their own laptops and participate in the show. If you do not own a laptop, the venue will be renting out laptops for a reasonable fee. Conscious Alliance will also be having a laptop drive. Patrons are encouraged to bring their old laptops to the show as these will be donated to needy Indian Bisco Kids who cannot afford (or steal) laptops.

the essence of music is not always to impress - monotony and droning is used in all sorts of musics to invoke a trance state, an active one at that, conducive to leaping out of your current understanding of your world and enter into new dimensions...
example, just saw steely dan 2 nights ago and it was a funky headbobbing groovin time but they are playing the exact same show night after night. but it sure as hell won't stop me from going again tonight at the beacon!

HAHAHAHAHA. A String Cheese spin off band! Thanks guys, I haven't had a laugh like that in a while. It just feels good to laugh again. The idea of a spin off band of one of the softest most disgraceful bands I've heard in recent years just amuses me. You know orginally I was just going to sell the Beacon Theatre and Red Rocks tickets that I purchased on ebay in order to extort you marmadooks, now I'm just going to burn them knowing that because of me a few SCI fans won't get to see the final run. Hey fluff, how you like me now?
