So I have no idea who the Hold Steady are, but The Teenage Prayers from brooklyn are opening for them and they kick major @ss so if you are going to that show come early. Seriously, The Teenage Prayers are some kind of cross between Otis Redding and the Velvet Underground. Check em' out.

just saw the hold steady at a free show in PA at the appalachian brewing company in harrisburg. only had heard a couple of songs prior to the show so didn't really know what to expect. they were pretty cool actually , good strong rock n roll with a twist , great lyrics , they def. dont "phone it in". they actually appear to have a pretty strong following , i met a couple folks there who had driven over 2 hours from various places to see this show - i made the mistake of stepping outside for about 15 minutes before they came on and had to wait almost a half hour to get back in due to the place being over capacity!
this isn't a very small place either , in fact it was the first time in 10 years they had ever been over capacity.
this was also , however a free show! so if you go get there early if you want a good spot up front. any how pretty cool show

The Hold Steady is amazing. Their last album, Boys and Girls In America, is absolutely stunning. The disc was inspired by ON THE ROAD. The title even takes its name from a passage in the book. I haven't had the pleasue of seeing them live, but I have heard from friends they put on one hell of a show. Everyone should check them out.

I was at the same show Kizzy, and I agree it was great. They blew me away. I bought the cd and love it. I live in the Harrisburg area and ABC is one of my favorite spots. They get great bands in there all the time. And the beer is heady too!
