Moogfest and Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit in 2013

TWO DIFFERENT FESTIVALS IN ASHEVILLE 2013

C Entertainment announced that it will rename its multi-day electronic music festival in Asheville, NC, as the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit for 2013, continuing to build on the success of the past three years when the event has been produced as Moogfest.

From 2010 through 2012, Moogfest presented some of the greatest names in electronic music, hosting such artists as Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation, Orbital, Tangerine Dream, Jonsi, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Brian Eno, and dozens of others. The event has featured educational panels, workshops, talks, installations, and art exhibitions in addition to numerous musical performances. Along the way the festival has received international acclaim from many publications, including NPR Music, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

The re-naming of the festival comes in the wake of Moog Music Inc. electing not to re-license the Moogfest name to AC Entertainment. "We received a letter from them following this year's festival, so we have no choice really but to re-name it. We have enjoyed booking, marketing and producing our event for our fans and want to continue with them on this creative journey," explains AC Entertainment CEO Ashley Capps. "We're taking this opportunity to rethink the event a bit and challenge ourselves. While we are still focused on Halloween weekend, that time of year has its difficulties and we've been encouraged to consider other options. This part of the world is a very special place - hence the name, Mountain Oasis. We're proud of what we've accomplished so far, and there's so much more to explore."

Details about Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit will be released in 2013.

Meanwhile, as Consequence of Sound points out, Moog Music, Inc has announced plans to hold Moogfest in 2013. A statement posted on Moogfest.com reads:

"Moogfest was founded in 2004 by Moog Music Inc. in honor of the company's founder and the man whose name the festival bears, Dr. Bob Moog. Moog Music is excited to work closely with The Bob Moog Foundation, the City of Asheville, our fans and partners to make Moogfest 2013 a dynamic celebration of the innovative spirit of Bob Moog. Bob was a visionary, whose groundbreaking concepts and electronic musical instruments have forever impacted music. His humble genius reached far beyond the mountains of Western North Carolina, influencing designers and creators all over the world in wildly diverse fields. Moogfest 2013 will honor Bob's passion for new ideas, technical curiosity and of course will support boundary pushing musical artists."

Rest assured, Asheville will always be the home of Moogfest.
