I have been to every ACL fest and steadily this festival is less about the Jam scene. This is the first year that I don't think I will go and hope that Dylan, Grace, Bela, Del, and RRE will do after shows.

I met Bob Dylan back in 84 when he was going through a tough time, he just got divorced, his dog got ran over by a steamroller (true story), and he got electrocuted trying to install an outlet. He was in good spirits the night I met him, and he told me that his favorite food of all time were hot dogs and that Bob Weir had really bad B.O. Then he autographed a picture for me, but instead of writing "Bob Dylan" he wrote Ted Stravinski. He must have been high or something.

I saw Bjork once on Reverb, HBO's old live music show. Kinda weird but very intriguing. I still think this festival sets the standard for good music with no labels.

kinda ironic that sts9 is on the dell stage considering their stage set could be in an apple commercial. Weird middle day time for them too...scheduler obviously must not be familiar w/ them

i am so sick of all the festival's diversifying to meet a wider market. while i do like many different types of music and/or artists, this is clearly not necessarily in the interest of the music, or the fans, but in the interest of appealing to a larger market, thereby being able to sell larger numbers of tickets. it is the reason i quit going to acl in the first place and the reason that i no longer go to bonnaroo.... what's next? 10k lakes? all good?

mmj and wilco scheduled at the same time.
big sams funky nation and j stone at the same time.
kelly willis, the artic monkeys and muse at the same time
sts9 at 130 pm, it will probably be about 105 degress by then.
what the f.
they cant make everybody happy but it seems like a real lack of trying at certain points. but you cant beat the food(salt lick, manuels, guerros) or the girls in austin.

The first year was the best year, it peaked with Trey, and has now gone downhill. It is still an okay line up but so far from where it initially began. Sunday is looking like the best day by far. Hopefully there will be some good aftershows like last year. And no, aju108, you can't beat the girls in Austin.

Wilco is an awesome band live, they played really smoothly at Bonnaroo this year. This fest sounds great and all but 80 bucks is too much for one day. what happened to shows only being around $20 or so

One gigantic scheduling conflict. I hope it gets better in the coming years but we'll see. Hopefully some night shows will bail out the day sets. ACL needs to make major improvements. And beatstock... pipe down blacklung. Don't start no shit...won't be no shit. Don't start blaming all of Texas for festival short comings. You are just mad because there are more beautiful women in one bar in Austin than there are in the entire state on pennsylvania. Go eat another Hershey's bar... umm okay!

I agree thirdcoastson, one big freaking schedule conflict. Why can't they put bluegrass bands like Del, RRE, maybe Bela Fleck on the same day instead of three different days!! There isn't one day of the schedule that justifies an $80 ticket.

For those of you who say that this sucks because of Texas, you have no idea what you are talking about. Would you say that Colorado sucks because it is home to some of the most right wing religious organizations in the country and a huge industrial military complex?
Austin has more in common with Madison WI or Boulder CO than the rest of Texas. Probably one of the best cities in America.

And for those of you who go, make sure to check out Barton Springs across the street. That is an insider tip and one you will not regret!!!

Finally - if you want to catch Wilco, don't do it at a festival. Well - do it, but don't expect them to air it out. They abbreviate many of their tunes for festival gigs. Specifically I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Spiders, Poor Places>Reservations, Misunderstood... They like to get a lot of music into their slot and they cut these songs seriously short. I watched their Bonaroo set over the net right after seeing them in Indy and they trimmed about 5 minutes off I Am Trying To Break Your Heart and probably 7 to 10 minutes off Spiders.

JIMSAM, ever thougth of writing of book of your rock and roll stories? Seriously dude, I'd buy it.

CMAXWELL, did you see that Sigur Ros performance on that episode. Unbelieveable. I wish that show was still on.

Lonesomefiddleblues, asking if Blonde Redhead is anygood is like asking if it's cold in Alaska.

CALLING ALL HARMONICA LOVERS

As for all of you going I highly reccomend Charlie Musselwhite. This dude is like the Jimmy Page of harmonica. Seriously, check out his 1967 album "Stand Back! Here Comes Charley Musselwhite's Southside Band" or his 1969 album "Tennessee Woman". This man is a amazing and a legend. And if you want to hear the Hendrix of harmonica, I reccomend checking out this old blues dude named James Cotton and some of his albums like "100% Cotton".
