Jam in the Dam Tickets On Sale 7/20 at Noon!

Hello to All!

YMSB :: Jam In The Dam 2007 by Sam Friedman
Hope your summer is going as well as ours. Our friends at Walther Productions just finished their most successful AllGood Festival yet, and we're expecting the same kind of result in Amsterdam next March. We want to remind everyone that tickets for JitD 2008 will go on sale this Friday, July 20th at Noon EDT. There will be links from the homepage, jaminthedam.com to both Music Today and ticketmaster.nl

Direct Music Today ticketing link: jaminthedam.tickets.musictoday.com.

Dates: March 16-17-18-19, 2008

The festival will run four nights this time, with six bands instead of four. It's sure to be the biggest and best yet.

Dark Star Orchestra will be doing a special pre-party on Saturday March 15 in the Old Hall at the Melkweg. This is the only night they will perform their standard full show, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. This show is ticketed separately. On Wednesday the 19, the only show will be Umphrey's McGee/Disco Biscuits in the newly renovated and expanded Max. For any clarification visit jaminthedam.com/ConcertSchedule07.html.

Pricing is as follows:

U.S.
$250 Four-Night Pass
$34 DSO show on 3/15

Europe (remember, Music Today DOES ship worldwide)
185 euro Four-Night Pass
50 euro One-Night ticket (limited availability)
25 euro DSO show on 3/15

We expect demand for tickets to this year's party to exceed all other years, so act accordingly. We hope that given the early notice this year, everyone's planning will be made a little easier. Remember, with Passports now being required for Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, wait times are longer and it's never too early to start that process: travel.state.gov/passport.

As in past years, Madison House Travel will be available to assist you with plans, and usually are able to negotiate some good hotel and hostel rates. They will be ready in a few weeks: www.madisonhousetravel.com.

Artists performing in 2008:

Umphrey's McGee
Disco Biscuits
Dark Star Orchestra
Tea Leaf Green
Perpetual Groove
Lotus

From jaminthedam.com:

The Disco Biscuits, Dark Star Orchestra and Perpetual Groove
Confirmed for Jam in the Dam 2008

Perpetual Groove
First off, we want to thank everyone for participating in our additional artists' poll. The poll on our message board has gotten around 13,000 views in less than three weeks. We tried to narrow the choices to artists that had expressed interest in past years, and who would also contribute to an amazing show.

Well, as hard as we tried, we couldn't narrow it down to two more bands. So, we're bringing three! Six bands, you ask, how is that going to work in three nights? It won't. So we are expanding the festival to four nights!

We are very excited to add The Disco Biscuits, Perpetual Groove and Dark Star Orchestra. These were the top three vote-getters in the poll. You spoke, we listened. But we had to get very creative to accomplish this lineup. Here's how:

The festival will now span four nights, March 16, 17, 18, 19, 2008. We are also taking the unusual step of announcing the schedule concurrent with this announcement, so folks can get a gander at exactly how it will work. In short, DSO will only play the first two nights in the Max. Umphrey's McGee and the Disco Biscuits will each have one night off out of four to potentially come and act as fans/guest musicians. We will play Tea Leaf Green, PGroove, and Lotus in the Old Hall each night, but only for March 16, 17, 18. On March 19, the only show will be Umphrey's McGee and the Biscuits in the Max, doing slightly longer sets.

What about DSO? Are they getting shortchanged? NO! As a result of so many of our European fans asking for DSO on a weekend, they will play the pre-party in the Old Hall on Saturday March 15, doing their entire show. This show will be a separate ticket. Got all that? Didn't think so. Take a look here at the schedule:

jaminthedam.com/ConcertSchedule07.html

A departure from the norm? Absolutely, but so is going to Amsterdam for four nights of music and civilized decadence! We had to figure a way to please the most people, including our hugely increasing European audience, which we feel DSO was greatly responsible for last year. Hope you like it!

There is expected to be a big demand for tickets this year. As such, there will only be one price for tickets. No early-bird, but also no price increase later. And the best news? We have only increased the ticket by $25 from this past year's late price, but are offering a whole extra night of music and two more artists. Tickets will be $250 (185 Euro) for the four nights, and $34 (25 Euro) for the DSO pre-party on the 15. A limited amount of one-night tickets will be available in Europe for 50 Euro. On sale will commence July 20.

A lot of work was done to get this completed as early as possible, so the saving, planning, and passport obtaining can start WAY in advance. Be aware that since passports are now required for Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean, wait times are up to 10 weeks, without paying an expedited fee. As always, Madison House Travel will be available to lend help to anyone needing it.

See you in March!

Hello Everyone!

We're going to do things a little differently this year. Since this is such a major planning effort for most people, and we had three artists who definitely WANTED to come next March, we are going to let the cat out of the bag. Also, with airlines giving fewer seats to frequent flyer miles, and being that you can reserve them starting 11 months in advance (that's the rule, we don't know why), some people can take advantage of that.

The other change, is that we will be doing FIVE artists next year! We will run three per night in the Old Hall, with a slightly reduced set time. Announcing this early will let us take our time to get feedback from our most loyal fans on who the last two bands should be. Please take part in the poll on our message board.

Jam in the Dam 2008 | March 16-17-18

We are very pleased to welcome back Umphrey's McGee, along with Tea Leaf Green and Lotus. As we've said all along, it's very important for all of the artists to WANT to be a part of our special festival. In many ways, it's like a private party for the most loyal fans of the bands, in one of the greatest cities on Earth. We sold 30% of the tickets in Europe last year, and hope to grow that. This is now TRULY an international festival.

We expect to decide on the others by the end of May. Tickets will go on sale sometime in late July, exact date TBA. Please stay tuned, and stay involved!

See you in March!

I went in '06. Badass festie. Looks like I might be making a return in '08. Hopefully they add Bisco. I've seen STS9 8 times and I can honestly say I hope they don't get added. I love their sound, but 3 straight days of STS9 gets quite boring. I think Lotus keeps it fresher than STS9 does anyway these days...they actually still jam a bit. Everytime...Instantly.

jacob fred jazz odyssey would be a great addition. Ive seen tea leaf before and though thet are good, there are tons of bands I would rather see there. MMW, MMJ, sts9, PGroove, or SKB (with reed and rodney) would all be great candidates.

The promoters actually asked MMW before and MMW wanted too much money (for the tickets to this to be affordable), so they're out of the question.

I agree with spitz66, JFJO would be a great addition! Oh, and what about bringing the B/R Duo back?

This lineup is pretty awesome already. Most people are probably aware of the Umph and TLG but Lotus is pretty great too, I would reccomend seeing them if you haven't already. anything that rhymes with sheshefski fartin good, confectual smoove, or ground vibe vector fine will force me to throw the buttload of money this fest would cost out

Talking about making a band's fan base look bad.

SciFreak: "I hope they don't add bisco because i really think they should go fuck themsleves and blow their fucking heads off because they are THE WORST JAMBAND IN THE WORLD!!!!"

Looks like that guy needs to change his name to SciPsycho. Besides I have a new side project out right now where all I do is make fart sounds in a microphone, and we are the self proclaimed worst band in the world, don't worry though guys, I would never blow my head off.

got to get more unique than that to sell me. Liek what UM is doing..TLG is ok but nothing worth hopping the pond for and Lotus?

Really wish these events would step out of the box and put on some talent that is truly making some cutting edge jam music.
