Additions To Camp Bisco VI

The Disco Biscuits :: Camp Bisco V by Dave Vann
Umphrey's McGee will be returning to the Camp Bisco stage after taking a year off. In that year, they have refined, improved, and expanded their sound with some major festivals plays such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, 10k Lakes, and All Good. Their success in 2006 culminated in their amazing performance on New Year's Eve at The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, and this summer Umphrey's McGee will be opening for The Dave Matthews Band at several large amphitheaters.

One of Britain's most unique and lively bands, The Bays will join the fray as well. Based upon hundreds of requests from the fans, the band that is "reinventing dance music" has been added.

Adam Deitch will be returning after performing on all three stages last year. This year he will be bringing the "The Storyteller" himself, Slick Rick and will also be performing a set with his own band, The Adam Deitch Project.

Also making a return visit this year will be Benzos and Indobox. Camp Bisco is also proud to introduce The Afromotive, a nine piece Afro-oriented world beat band out of Asheville, NC. In addition, Philadelphia's own Grimace Federation will be making their debut performance at Camp Bisco along with Digital Frontier, Strut and Caveman.

Tickets are on sale now for only $130 at campbisco.net, discobiscuits.com, and meatcamp.com. Be sure to get your tickets soon before this allotment runs out.

AUGUST 16-18 INDIAN LOOKOUT COUNTRY CLUB MARIAVILLE, NEW YORK

Today, trance-fusion rockers The Disco Biscuits announce Camp Bisco 6 - the sixth year of the band's always-anticipated annual music festival. Reputed for each year offering music's most cutting edge and experimental innovators, Camp Bisco 6 will host three nights of music and camping at the Indian Lookout Country Club in upstate New York. With their initial artist line-up Simon Posford, OTT and YOUTH as they bring their dub circus project, Hallucinogen: In Dub to the states for its first ever U.S. appearance! Also confirmed: Israeli trance band Infected Mushroom, the stretched and skewed soundscapes of Brazilian ex-pat Amon Tobin, stunning sample craftsman Girl Talk, dance-punker The Juan Maclean, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) (playing a live set one night and a PA set the other), underground heavyweight Bassnectar, a soulful DJ set by King Brit of Digable Planets fame, incognito favorites Hanging Brains, plus Zilla, EOTO, The Join (featuring Jamie Shields & Darren Shearer of The New Deal and Tom Hamilton & Clay Parnell of Brothers Past), Telepath, Psylab, Orchard Lounge, and others still to be announced.

In addition to three nights and two full days of music, Camp Bisco 6 will offer unlimited car camping, plus RV and family camping areas, daily "Color Wars" festivities which have become a signature Camp Bisco pastime, and of course plenty of food and craft vendors. Indian Lookout Country Club, located in Mariaville New York just ½ hour from Albany and 3 hours from both Boston and New York City, boasts 200 acres of serene rolling hills and natural beauty, and such amenities as flush toilets and showers. As always, Camp Bisco will work with various local officials, venue managers and The Camp Creek Organizers to ensure music fans a fun and safe weekend.

Also this year, Camp Bisco will "Go Green." Camp Bisco 6 will be powered by 100% renewable energy, thanks to sponsors Green Mountain Energy Company and Sustainable Waves.

Not-for-profit Conscious Alliance will also be on site to host a food drive. As in years past, food donations collected will go to benefit local food pantries in their effort to help feed America's hungry. Attendees are encouraged to bring 10 non-perishable food items redeemable for a limited edition Camp Bisco 6 / Conscious Alliance poster. Visit www.consciousalliance.org for more information.

We are extremely excited to announce the sixth installment of Camp Bisco, to be held on August 16 - 18, at Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY. This year's festivities will be extended by one day, and will feature three nights of music, and two full days. For the first time in the history of Camp Bisco, the Disco Biscuits will be playing all three nights. To make this Camp Bisco a positive experience for everyone, we will be working directly with the Camp Creek crew, who have been working at ILCC for years, as well as the land owners and the ILCC staff to make this the best home for Camp Bisco for years to come.

After listening to all your concerns from last year, we sought out for a venue that would be more pleasing to you, the fans. ILCC offers almost 200 acres of beautiful, flat, privately owned land in upstate New York, only 20 miles northwest of Albany. There will not be a shortage of land and all attendees will camp next to their cars and have the use of the many great facilities the venue has to offer including flushable toilets and clean bathroom facilities as well as men's and women's showers.

We ask that you be respectful to the land and the employees that run the grounds. While the front-gate search has been known to be thorough, once inside, you are free to move about the areas without the hassles of repeated searches. There is NO glass of any kind allowed on the property, along with no weapons, fireworks, or illegal substances. If you follow these simple rules, Camp Bisco will be a wonderful experience for all. Please remember that these rules are enforced to keep all attendees safe while they are on the property.

For those who choose not to camp, there are a wide variety of hotels and lodging within 15-20 minutes of ILCC in Schenectady, NY. We will also be sectioning off a large, flat field for RV parking only. Stay tuned to www.campbisco.net and www.discobiscuits.com for more details on this as well as all other information pertaining to the event.

Simon Posford, along with DJ OTT and Youth, will be performing a live set of Hallucinogen in DUB for the first time ever in the USA and only the second time ever world-wide. This show, which will be performed on live bass, keyboards, and other instruments, will surely be one of the highlights of a great weekend! They will be performing brand new music as well as the classics from the In Dub album.

these bikers didn't just steal peoples stuff and resell it last year. I saw them bust this older guy with acid last year and turn him right over to the police. I'm glad Vibes moves back to Bridgeport this year and they're still going to let people camp next to their rides. Bridgeport may not be the best place, but I heard they renovated the park and just about anywhere is a better place than that Nazi biker s###hole.

BEFORE THIS THREAD GOES HAYWIRE on security-related festival issues, let's clear the air. The memories of FOUR years of incredible, experimental music at Bisco should not be, in any way, compromised because of last year's security concerns at Hunter Mountain. As projected by many and myself, Meatcamp Prod's stepped up and addressed fans concerns....Not only by moving it to more acreage and a better venue (which BTW, only had issues with Harley dudes one year at GOTV) but also by going out and immediately snagging Sound Tribe Sector Nine. STS9, Posford, Psylab, Juan McLean, etc....These are great livetronica/dj acts to compliment the Biscuits. HOnestly, Meatcamp has impressed me throughout the years with the way they really listen and act on the fans' feedback! A Very Well Run Festival that should only grow exponentially again this year! See y'all in upstate in august.....via johnny goff

you are a fuckin douche bag. Just by referring to any band as the "fucking gay ass" speaks volumes of your level of intelligence. You must be about 13 years old. Have you ever seen Zilla? So what if it is one guy from SCI, they put on a good show that will go well with the other bands playing. Oh and by the way the string cheese incident owns your dumb ass.

i've been to gathering of the vibes past two year and as far the bikers go; i'd rather have bikers for security than cops any day, just don't bring in glass, no2, or video cameras, don't touch their bikes, then if you don't get in their face they won't get in yours...i also went to camp bisco last year and loved the latenite scene all day all night, the line up this year looks like headies, hopefully lightnight sets can go later than they do at vibes

when sound tribe plays a pa set that means they're playing entirely through the Public Address system using only their macs, with all the drum machines, loops, etc. running through the computers. It's really interesting and exciting ONLY if you're into electronica, sometimes it can be a little wellllll, boring, but it takes a whole lot of talent to do some of the shit that they do. check it out if you get the chance, hopefully they've managed to make it more dance-y than that droning mind-trip aaooga that it was for a while.

PA sets are tittytastic, especially if you like electronica. As for the Zilla comments...it's not Cheese, thank god...but if you havn't heard or seen them, how the fuck can you judge them? They are raw. PERIOD. Line up looks dope, and as long as people can respect everyone else...it should be a good time.

For all the HATERS, of any kind.....A BIG FUCK YOU, you dirty cumrags. YOU ALL know who YOU are.

I really don't see the hype around Bisco or STS9. It seems as if both produce music just to feed the x-kids' desire to roll, dance and dehydrate. They don't rage like other bands do, but maybe I just ain't down with the whole trance/electronica genre. After listening to a few songs of both, I felt like their music would fit a dance club.

wow, i think i just need to retire from posting. its something i do at work to kill some time, but some of you guys really need hobbies. it's great to love your bands, but talking smack about others is just weak, especially anonymously. and for the record, i agree with johnnygoff. i have been seeing bisco for 10 years and have been there done that on this whole jam scene. sure security can be too aggressive, but the bottom line is follow this formula and you won't have a problem...........come to the festival+ bring your own goodies for your head+ don't sell them= good times. take it from a vet.

oh, one more thing for pfleghaar and the others. yes it is fun to listen to bisco and others on drugs. but back in the day i also did drugs everywhere else i went, because that was what i liked to do. being older and more experienced, i still like to dabble in psychedelics, but i don't need to to have fun or for the music to sound good. the key to a good experience is letting go. for some that takes drugs, but don't go making generalizations. hope to see ya real soon at a bisco show near you.
ps. PA sets don't make sense. i make beats on my computer too, but i don't go around charging people money to hear me hit play and sit back.

i laughed so hard at "Gothood42"'s statements above about String Cheese. It was so far beyond ridiculous, it was incredibly funny. To him, I would say purchase DJ Harry's great remixes of String Cheese. Wierd coincidence here too bub...the drummer and percussionist from SCI --Jason Hann and Michael Travis now comprise Eoto who will be featured at Bisco! Wierd how the guys who help create the (as you put it) "hold my hand as i walk through the valley of love" crap that comes from string cheese accident and there no talent ass clown music" is performing at Bisco.
People like GotHood42 should be more educated or...at the very least, do a few more google searches about festival lineups before piping off. it was still pretty funny. ha.

First of all there is no reason to hate. String Cheese Incident has great vibes, as well as many other jam bands. GOTV was amazing! if you spread good vibe then you will get them in return. i wish GOTV was at ILCC. Camp Bisco on the other hand was sketchy as hell. i had mad shit stollen from my tent, not the festival atmosphere i was looking for. although the music was rockin, the drugs were bangin, the scene needs some work. so stop all this baseless hating on others. we all want to have a good time---keep the energy positive!

What happened to the location from 2 years ago? There were no hassles anywhere, security was pretty much non existent. There wasn't even a main gate, I just walked in, I was walking up the road and next thing I knew I was at the Fest!

please don't compare STS9 to the biscuits. I like both but they are very different. STS9 has more of an intelligent sometimes laid back vibe. I listen to STS9 to go to bed at night. and obviously they bring the funk too. They are a great addition. and I hope some of the scene kids who listen to all the same festival bands will pick up on some of these psy-trance artists that camp bisco has to offer. This lineup would be sick to see anywhere else in the world. But unfortunately the festival is probab;y going to draw the usual jamband crowd. either way, I'll be there to catch simon posford and sts9. I love the stage lights a camp bisco. Thanks to the Disco Biscuits for exposing their fans to the music that inspires them.

yea so i went to vibes last year and it was all super smooth except for the few sketch kids (prob. "bisco kids"). I loved ILCC and would go back there in a sec to see a festy...on the other hand i could never go to bisco unless they clean up the scene, i love my drvgs but for all i know when kids are dieing at camp bisco its seems a little out of control, and oo yea w/ lack of cops inside at ILCC i can see a lot more of that happening this year...kids are just too immature to handle a scene like is presented at camp bisco, either way something needs to happen

has anyone else noticed that any message boards involving the bisco kids is riddled with hatred. Detroit player i've been doing this shit for eighteen years orignally from Detroit and I learned from Jerry that the best way to deal with the ignorant, violent, and crazy portion of the jam scene is to simply ignore it. Don't lower yourself to their level. As for deadhead611 I was wondering if you could explain why the dead never frequented SC. Perhaps the ultra right wing agenda that runs rampent through your state. I think you two got off on the wrong foot. As for the rest of you jam fans what's with the constant talk about fag this or gay that. Are we still in middleschool here or have we forgotten that one major reson we all got into this scene was to be free to be ourselves. What this scene really needs is more folks with the positive vibe that jonnygoff puts out! Forget the hate,, let what you don't like go and enjoy life.
ps and try it without drugs just once, you'll be how high your favorite band can get you when it's all working!

Deftone984 makes a decent point about minding your own business. I think many form an opinion or feel compelled to coment when a "few" of you roll and turn into complete A-holes by bumping into everyone else around. That is when your ecstasy experience becomes ours and annoying at that.

LONG BEACH DUB ALLSTARS, does anyone else feel me, if you don't know what I am talking about maybe you should find out. As for all the hating, there is no way anyone should talk "shit" about any band that is part of our scene. None of then "lack talent" or "are gay" (they could possibly be gay but not in the way intended). We are part of the best music scene that has ever been in my and so many other peoples opinions, for a band to be a part of it enough to get someone to bitch about them means they must have an unbelievable amount of talent. If you don't agree then why be part of our movement. SCI may not be my cup of tea, but I'll be damned if they aren't some talented mother

To that string cheese sucks, no they dont debate ragin, yeah phish_420 just put it pretty well. I personally love String Cheese, I could see how someone might get bored with them if they're looking for something novel or edgy or "trippin-friggin-skittles-raining-from-the-sky-my-shoulder-muscles-evaporated" maaaaaaaaaaaan sound in their music, which I have to admit I also dig and I also have to admit String Cheese doesn't bring tooo much of, but they definately have some funky ass jams (galactic, ms. brown's) and if you don't dig their music personally than that's fine, don't listen to it, trying to argue that they're not talented musicians is a pretty uphill argument I'd say, I'm pretty sure either Travis, Kang, or Kyle could all stand lone as evidence that SCI are very good musicians. I also happen to love many many songs written by them, if you don't again, that's fine, that's pretty subjective I think, no use arguing and putting other people down over it.

This message board is not that different than any other message board on Jambase. I guarantee that there is a distinct correlation between the age and hate spewed on this entire website. Too much ego and testosterone for some of the pups to handle.

I'm blown away by how these bands have been so "internalized" by Jambase posters. If half of these artists wrapped a turd in a bow and sold it on MusicToday, many would buy it and defend their affinity for hit to the end.

just so you know, when you're talking initial search here, it's not what you think. these guys are bikers LOOKING specifically to steal your contraband. they will make you take EVERYTHING out of your car, look in the wheel wells, under the spare tire, put their DIRTY hands in every bag of clothing, backpack, guitar case WHATEVER you have, they will go through it. as of last year, this thieving process takes about TEN HOURS, and thats just from the point you actually enter their property so be prepared. personally, I'd rather have security who are paid by the promoter to do just a basic search for tanks and shit and who also want to get all the people in as per the promoters request. these guys don't care if you miss the first day of music waiting to get in. Yeah, it's an awesome place to have a festy, but nobody can sell any glass, eepecially the large vendors, and the horrendous LONG, LONG search/stealing party just totally makes it not worth it. See, because they WILL put their dirty hands in and feel around in EVERY one of your bags...
if you have an old smallish sports or duffle bag that you don't want anymore, simply fill it up with the most horrendous concoction you can think of to touch (shit, vomit...you know). Then when they stick their hands in and pull them out covered in shit...you can look at them and say "dude, that's my bag of shit. Who told you to put your hand in my bag of shit?"! ha-ha...stupid bikers...trips are for kids!

cant we all just get along?

IMO, i think that people who don't like the "trance-jam" bands, automatically say that its just for the Xers, which is completely bogus. Music is evolving and bands are using new technology to create a different sound. Face it everyone, music is getting away from the basic sound that it started as, and is moving towards being more and more electronically advanced... this doesn't mean that its only for Xed out people. Stop dissing a certain type of music because of the stereotype that it may bring, not everyone who enjoys DB rages on E, just like not everyone who enjoys the dead rages on L.

Who cares which band is better than the other, or if kids wanna rage on E all night long. Its all opinion oriented, and trying to argue which band is better than the other, or which drug is cooler than the next, is like argueing Liberals vs. Conservatives, no one is ever going to win, and its just going to cause fights. The scene is going to die out if we dont all just drop this middle school bull$hit. PEACE LOVE RESPECT

NWILSO: Do you think that "the man" is going to sift thru all of the crap that is spewed between fans of Jambands to find possible drug users? Have you ever met "big brother"? If so, you'd know that they are probably scouring the supermarket isle for this String Cheese Incident tht people speak of or where someone is housing this "Rat Dog" that tours the country.

I assume from the useful info on this thread that GOTV is probably not a good place to bring my 2 year old this year. If anyone can suggest a fest near NYC or Philly that won't get me robbed or waiting in line for 10 hours I welcome your suggestions and the ensuing arguments.

Peeps this looks like it could possibly be the best Camp Bisco ever. With STS9, UM, Dietch, Posford, Zilla, and all the other great DJ acts plus three nights of the Disco Biscuits. Looks insane in my opinon. Lets let go of the negativity about not liking this band or wanting this bvand to be there. As far as th sacurity it cant any worse then having a New York State Trooper pat you down every time you enter the festival grounds. Be smart, be courteous, and obey the rules. Then whats the problem. Some of the best people I have ever met in my life were bikers.

this is so weird... I was under the assumption that music was meant to be listened/danced to. It seems here that the only point of music is to give people a chance to write ridiculous arguments and attack peoples opinions.

the sites motto is "GO SEE LIVE MUSIC". it's not "GO SHOW PEOPLE HOW IGNORANT YOU ARE ONLINE." Get over yourselves and find something better to do! Love the music!

Alright, I'm not saying anything about the quality of music when it comes to either of these bands. Everyone is entitled to their own musical tastes/opinions. Just wanted to throw this out there though. Does anyone else feel that this whole Bisco/UM man-crush is getting a little old? C'mon, make some new friends in the scene.

"No problems, but I'm just saying that what I wrote was a respectable opinion. At least I didn't tell everybody how I really feel about them."
Isn't that what an opinion is? I don't understand why people wanna bash what we have. For all we know, all of our favorite bands will be on hiatus by the end of the year. Then what would all you haters do? Move to europe so you an loathe in pathetic electronica made from a macbook?

Funny that half the bands on the Bill are named from controlled substance references. To all those that complain about security and arrests at shows, take a step back and look at the environment that your putting yourself into. The rest of the world is not oblivious to what goes on. If you get busted at this fest w/ illegal drugs and go to jail then you totally deserve it. Keep it on the DL people.

this music sucks, that music rules. i don't care anymore. however, if you DO care about this type of music (quite kick ass in my ever-humbled opinion) check out the fucking JOIN while you are there. New Deal + Brothers Past = absolute musical ecstasy (whether you take the pill or not)

jakecinningerisgod, I sort of agree with you. ive been a bisco fan long before UM (started seeing bisco back at thier first fillmore west show back in 01 and been sweatin em hard ever since) but despite being a huge fan, I dont really fit in to the bisco scene myself. Overall they are ok with me, but bisco fans do tend to be a lot more, for lack of a better word, "edgier" than um fans. I think um and moe have the chillest, freindliest, most laid back fans on the scene. although to have a band that plays dark angry uterly insane jams like bisco, i guess it makes sense that fans are equally irreverent

Not my tastes in music at all (STS9 used to be ok - I caught them at Langerado and wasn't impressed), but it sounds like a good excuse to go completely out of your mind for awhile. Y'all be careful. No one thinks you HAVE to take all those chemicals at once. It's all in your head.

Judging by the content and conventions of the comments, if you can call them that, on this thread, many of you are clearly uninformed about music in general as well as pathologically negative. I don't know what your short comings are that lead you to hate the world even at its most hedonistic, but please, if you can't say something nice, then...

Additionally, the outlandish comments about electronic music on this thread are pathetic. Listen up. Watch your idol Pink Floyd's Live @ Pompeii. Rodger Waters, I believe it is, lectures the interviewer when he asks a question that is right in line with ya'll's assessments of what musicians can do with new technology. Whoever has listened to and enjoyed the art of music, dance, and pleasure knows what I mean. They also have already seen the aforementioned video.

BTW, anyone who says Pink Floyd isn't a significant musical force and pioneer in this genre of music only confirms his or her stupidity.

For those of you who find yourselves posting as a way of catharsis, look up the pranaam in the dictionary and go sit beside the river, mountain, or whatever natural phenomena are near you and breathe.

why do Disco Biscuits fans think they're hardcore? it's happy music, deal with it. Honestly? I have listened to the band for 5 years now and it never ceases to amaze. anyways, i thought the great part of all these bands was not having a dumb rap, punk, or metal hardcore attitude. How did this rich white boy attitude develop out of upbeat house jams? can't wait for camp bisco. gonna bring my JP-8000 and get magner to give me some of his patches!

So. We meet at last. Camp Bisco will be coming to ILCC this year.

A hearty welcome from one of the staff. Please don't believe all the unfounded rumors about the eeeeeeevil bikers. Most of the bad vibes are generated by hard core dealers who were ejected from the property after repeated warnings. 99% of the people who come to events here, have a great hassle-free time on 300 acres of campground off limits to the public eye.

Again, this is not an official communication (an official greeting will be forthcoming), just me. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Fish, what do you think the wait is gonna be like to get through security? Just wanna get an idea so we know how long to give ourselves to get there. Could it be like 2-3 hours possibly?

Hard to say. It depends on the size of the crowd. Camp Creek was a snap this year. 15 minutes average.

Since this is a new group for us, we'll have out staff maxed out. A lot depends on how many show up early since the gates won't open till noon. In the initial rush, the ones at the end of the line could take a couple of hours. The ones in front...much quicker.

If you want to see it all.....the earlier the better. You can park in the holding field and party till the gates open.
