The Raconteurs Hard at Work Recording New Album

The Raconteurs
The Raconteurs are currently in a Nashville (Jack White's new hometown) recording material for the follow-up to the band's 2006 smash hit Broken Boy Soldiers. There is no release date or name set at this time, but the album will hit early next year.

The group, which includes White and Brendan Benson, along with The Greenhornes' Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, has been holed-up at Blackbird Studio in Nashville and currently has 12 songs written.

The band is working diligently to get as much groundwork completed on the album before The White Stripes begin their summer tour in support of Icky Thump due June 19.

In a sea of very bad hip hop, uncatchy pop, whiny heavy metal and an assortment of other crap that I refuse to rack my brain for both The White Stripes and The Raconteurs stand out.

Can't more bands and artists outside our beloved community write good music?

Just a question.

You don't have to love or even like every band in the scene but at least respect them for not taking the easy road to pop success.

Ain't no time to hate,
barely time to wait

boknows...

Couldn't agree with you more. However, WS and the R are hardly the only folks outside our community writing good music.

I respect all artitist who stay true to themselves rather than try to appeal to the masses - that being said our "community" is just one of many that fall into this catagorie. The only thing I don't agree with is how many jam fans are oblivious to all the other forms of music (some which are equally as good) flying under the gen. public radar.

TS- I agree with your point. Give them to me and I'll check them out if I don't already know them.

Henry- What other forms? Just curious. I have an insatiable appetite for more good music.

boknows - I may not have articulated my statement just right; I'm not talking about whole new forms of music; But rather entire underground scenes of Jazz, Rock & Hip Hop. For example with Jazz, MMW and the Duo are bassically Jazz artists who have been fortunate enouph to tap into the "jam" scene. Just like there are many Jazz fans who would love certain jambands but have no idea about them' there are just as many Jam fans who are missing out on good Jazz as well as Rock and especially Hip Hop. For example; I saw the Duo recently and then about a week later I was listening to NPR (They play Jazz from 10pm to 1am & reggae from 1 to 6) and they were playing sevral live tracks from these two guys that were comming to town touring as a drums and keyboard duo. They blew me away, if it wasn't for work I would have gone to their show in a second. My point is that all of my friends that I see at all the jam shows, many of which who probably could have and would have wanted to go didn't because they didn't know about it. Meanwhile everyone came out to see the Duo who are extemely similar (just tapped in) - If you or anyone out there wants a list of great underground Jazz, Rock or Hip Hop just send me a message.

Give it a name...All I know is great music is great music, sxxtty music is well...I don't know if you've noticed, but most movies suck...but some of them are great...the way capitalism works is they throw a bunck of sxxt at the wall and some of it sticks. Many people like buying sxxt is what I'm saying.
