ANIMAL COLLECTIVE SET OUT ON A NORTH AMERICAN SPRING TOUR
A NEW LABEL AND A NEW RECORD TO FOLLOW THIS FALL

Animal Collective
Animal Collective is one of the most innovative and interesting bands around these days. It's rare when a show comes to town that is so different than most shows you'll see all year. Creative, bewildering, whatever you want to call it, these shows are a fierce artistic explosion that under no circumstances should be missed. You'll never know what you're going to get and that is the brilliance of this band.

Animal Collective is a group of four best friends who grew up playing and recording music together in Baltimore County Maryland. Why Animal? Cause it's the only word they could think of that made any remote connection to what they thought their sound was like and of course, they love their fellow animals very much. Why collective? Cause they have always wanted to be the ones who define what and who AC is. Two people? Four people? Why not? Don't be surprised if you go to see them and it's not what you thought it would be, and try not to get too upset. AC continues to make music after seven years, six studio records and one live record, that combines a love of sonic free form electronic horror gospel hip-hop soul pop madness and brings it all together into something that is (hopefully) at times totally pleasing and at others completely scary and confusing but most importantly is refreshing in this crazy crazy world. The four song People EP came out earlier this year on FatCat Records. The new record will be out on Domino Records in September 2007.

"breathlessly giddy and shamelessly trippy" -Entertainment Weekly

"a celebration of innocence and nonsensical shared knowledge, and the sweet, trusted idea that everything will be fine" -Pitchfork

I saw their last tour- it was good, until they had that loooong leadup into Banshee Beat; that noise>chord change still gives me chills. Then a psycho Purple Bottle encore, replete with the screaming chorus ("whackawakaka WOOOOOOOOOOO"). As I walked out into the evening, some women ahead (20-22 yrs old) of me were shouting that it was the best show they had ever seen. I figured they had not seen Phish, but it was a terrific finish to the show.
