Mat Brooke
When guitarist/singer/songwriter Mat Brooke left Band of Horses last year the news was rather shocking. Brooke and Ben Bridwell co-founded Horses in 2004 after the demise of their band Carissa's Wierd. With the massive success of Band Of Horses' 2006 Sub Pop debut, Everything All The Time, it seemed a peculiar time to quit the band.

We're happy to announce the re-emergence of Brooke with his new band, Grand Archives (originally known as just Archives). Featuring four harmonizing male vocalists, Grand Archives is making waves quickly. They've already signed to Sub Pop (debut forthcoming) and are opening a string of shows for Modest Mouse.

Grand Archives Tour Dates:
04.15 | Seattle, WA | Paramount Theatre *
04.16 | Vancouver, British Columbia | PNE Coliseum *
04.17 | Boise, ID | Big Easy Concert House *

04.21 | Minneapolis, MN | Orpheum Theatre *

This guy is the man! Glad he's back on the scene.

Not surprisingly, this isn't a huge sonic jump from what Band of Horses do. They definitely left their sack full of reverb at home though -- so that's good. Really solid songs on their MySpace page. I digs.

It would be great if Phil Ek was on board for this album but I guess he's not since the reverb is gone.

You know, I listened to all the songs on his page, but they just didn't do it for me. I guess I'm not in the mood for that slow, drawn out sound. Good wishes though.
