Andrew Bird
"I was mesmerized... It was transcendent, and I think the comment I made was 'well, I can go home now, this is just the most beautiful thing I'm going to hear here'" -David Dye, Host of WXPN's World Cafe on Bird's SXSW performance

Armchair Apocrypha, the new album by ANDREW BIRD, debuted at #76 in the BILLBOARD 200.

Find out why Armchair Apocrypha is "What Everyone Should Be Talking About" (GQ), "a vast, optimistic album" (THE NEW YORKERM) and "just the right parts darkness and light" (NEWSWEEK) and what's made him INTERVIEW's Cult Musician of the Month.

ANDREW BIRD heads out on a massive tour that begins April 11 in Grand Rapids. Stops will include the Coachella festival, Chicago's Riviera Theater, San Francisco's Fillmore, and New York's Webster Hall before concluding at Washington DC's 9:30 Club for a set that will be webcast live as part of NPR's All Songs Considered live concert series.

Yea! Bird is one of the most unique and talented songwriters I've heard in a very very long time. This album and all past are REALLY SOLID and beautiful works.

Yeah, he played a great set at bonnaroo last year. he had one other dude with him playing a small three piece drumset and keys at the same time. check out "nervous tic of the head to the left" or the whole "thrills" album. good stuff

I saw him at Lala last year. He was great, BUT this ignorant bitch filming for the on-line simulcast stood in front of him for ¾ of the show (and yes – I use the term bitch in the most pejorative sense possible – it isn’t sexist, she was a fucking bitch – I will go so far to say cunt). People would yell in between songs, she just blew it off and unfortunately Andrew never heard it. Really gave you the impression that paying $160 for tickets wasn’t enough and that the audience was there for another purpose. Now tickets are $190!!! Not like I really need to watch the artist, but it is cool to see him work. Just him and a drummer and he really creates great layers of sounds.

Nervous Tick Motion is on '..And the Mysterious Production of Eggs'which is probably my favorite album of his. 'Weather Systems' is also worth checking out. Anyone heading to his show at the Webster Hall (NYC) in May???
