NEW BISCO VIDEO

The Disco Biscuits release "World Is Spinning" Music Video

World Is Spinning videoThe Disco Biscuits are proud to present the brand new music video for "World Is Spinning", the second visual interpretation (the first being "Caterpillar") of a track from their 2006 double-disc live release, The Wind at Four to Fly (SCI Fidelity/Diamond Riggs).

Directed and produced by Marc Brownstein and Chris Lonergan/Cadence Video, "World Is Spinning" takes a stark look at the realities facing our world today, while also delivering the Biscuits' signature live sound. Keyboardist Aron Magner says, "As humans beings in a seemingly smaller global world, we are at an imperative time where me must view the actions that we take for the future of humanity and the earth we encompass."

I like it. It's edgy and risky - plus Bush's hand motion in sync with the music was pretty intense.

I agree w/ Andy - Shrub's hand in time to the tune is cool. The beginning screen effects and individual street shots are pretty weak, but the conflict footage and live concert shots are good. It would have been cool to see lebo doing art for the video, but his work seems to light-hearted for the concept.

I'm pschyed to see them create a video and embrace their 80's side.

Pretty pathetic. The best footage was the news clips that were shot by someone else. That whole walking down the street thing got old quick. I like what they were trying to do and I get the point, but technology is way better than this display.

I agree with lvcheese too, these guys bore the crap out of me sometimes. "Whoa-oa-oa-bla-bla-bla beeedadeedeedoodadeedee" I mean, do more for me than the bob-your-head-trance.

Meh, the video was sub par at best, but it had some cool shots of shows. Basically the editing looked like it was done on a home computer or something...not to impressed with a few simple transitions. Where's the TWEAK that I know bisco can bring? That was way to calm for them to put their name on. But good for them I suppose, just not really something I'd ever watch again. Ever.

'Keyboardist Aron Magner says, "As humans beings in a seemingly smaller global world, we are at an imperative time where me must view the actions that we take for the future of humanity and the earth we encompass."'

Can we take note that the above statement makes absolutely no sense? Yes mags, the 'world' is 'global', even if it seems smaller...but why must we view the actions that we take? what the hell does that even mean? and is this silly video really taking action for the "future of humanity and the earth we encompass"? looks to me like some low budget mac-editing of news clips from the past few years spliced with some cool concert footage. not exactly future-saving material if you ask me

i just keep reading this sentence and each time it makes less and less sense...kinda like this band...

funny how the disco biscuits were asked to open for the dead reunion in alpine valley and had dinner at phil lesh's house ...why?...because Phil loves the biscuits!....why?... because they are ORIGINAL...while all the other incredible jam bands are awesome, they lack one thing... courage to take a chance musically...the biscuits basically created the technojamtronica genre that so many try and mimmick now...why do ppl hate the yankkes and the cowboys?...because they are successful...there isnt 1 jamband that has vocals as a priority...we are music lovers not opera fans....even mmj was was pitchy in vocal dept...moe's vocals?...puhlease...matsi has tone?...franti is in tune?...i woudl say john mayer has best vocals of all the jam bands, but not as jammy as a band .... the grateful dead were contreversial and ppl bitched...phish weas contreversial and ppl bitched...and now the disco biscuits are contreversal so ppl bitch...but each was UNIQUE in their own way...and is why you will be listening to moe/mmj/spearhead/lotus/los/sci/wsp/any other great jamband that sounds identical cds in your car soon as you wait for the doors to open to catch a sold out bisco show at say madison square garden? Or maybe you will be on the lot selling stuff since that is where all the money is and you only go to vend?...BISCO RULES....pharmies save lives!

this song is just okay IMO

lyrics can be interesting IMO
vocals are lacking (but hey, not everyone has a voice like Jerry)
not every fan of the biscuits is a strung out kid from philly or jersey or NY or wherever the hell else they hail from
blah blah blah...we've heard it all...
bisco is just taking chances just like CaveManDan put it, they'll be loved and hated by different people until the day comes when they stop making music, SCIFreak your list is impressive and I agree with you on some points, but hey first time I saw SCI I was unimpressed, but then again I dont know shit about Cheese, everyone go see the LIVE music you love and keep the Jam scene alive, we all know that the people that attend live shows of bands like the ones SCIFreak listed truely know good music.

wow that was less than entertaining. i haven't heard much of bisco's stuff, but what i have heard has been decent. if this video is meant to get their music out to a wider audience, they probably should have picked a better song. and spent more than a week making the vid. and picked clips that actually show something. americans are so detuned to violence that just showing some clips of guns and explosions isnt going to do a damn thing. its not radical enough to make anybody actually think about the issues.

Not a huge Biscuit fan, but damn they can draw you in. I lose no respect for their videos, lack of great lyrics, or lack of great vocals due to their sheer instrumental prowess. These guys are the best in the business at improvising. According to Marc on jambands.com, most of their jams are open jams. That takes balls, so the other I can let slide. IMO no other band has anything worth that kind free pass.

Cavemandan, I agree with you on the technojamtronica that BISCO has basically invented that so many other bands are trying to mimic (And for all of you SCi heads hating on BISCO, they too are trying some trance and IMO it blows - wasn't that the whole Nershi leaving thing...)

Anyways you all are being too hard on the video. The fact is that BISCO is changing the world, atleast helping, they participate in Non-Profit Org's and are very vocal in the community (Head Count- Brownstein is Co-Chair, Conscious Alliance) and regularly hold canned food drives at their shows. This being said, they are trying to reach out to all you num-Skullz to say "Hey open your eyes and know what the issues are" Instead, everyone is commenting on the quality of the video...Come on people you are missing the POINT...MAKE A DIFFERENCE, BITCH about what's going on in the world not a low budget video

i saw the DB at Charlotte City Fest about 6 years ago i think. my first impression of the band was that they were a bunch of frat kids. i left their set early to go watch Leftover Salmon if i remember correctly. they just didn't do it for me. i did hear their MEMPHIS song on the Sirius radio and that was O.K. that's all i can say about that. maybe i'm missing something. what's the best album they made or live recording off archive. i like to be open minded, but i'm looking for something that stands out. i even checked out Jam in the Dam and was not real impressed with their vocal and i really thought their jamming was mediocre. i know some no name bands that can jam just as good. that's just my opinion.

SCIFreak: Are you at all bitter that SCI was last to jump on the jamtronica bandwagon and it caused Nershi to leave? I like a lot of the same bands you do but wouldn't yuo agree that each of those bands on your list fill a diferrent niche? If you don't like the Biscuits, cool. AT least give them credit for what they do. I can respect any band that tours constantly to please it fans, regularly releases new music and involves itself in social/political causes to help their community. Just cause you don't like their music or fans doesn't mean that they have any less place in the jam scene as anyone else. They're not the best band on the scene but what they bring to the table can't be overlooked. Would Lotus be the same band if they didn't come from the same scene as Bisco? Who knows.

ADCO: Yeah Magner's grammer might not have been perfect but I think his message is pretty clear. As our population keeps increasing we must watch the effects we have on our planet. It's more improtant now than ever.

I agree that Bisco's vocals are shotty at best BUT I have plenty of live Phish & GD where their harmonies are almost unbearable. Especially Phish. The Band, The Beatles, the Doobie Brothers, Steeley Dan and so many other bands work better as an example for pitch perfect vocal harmonies.

On another note... I like Bisco but the video wasn't great. Was is something they threw together to entertain themselves? Let's hope so.

What jam band has released a "decent" video? I appreciate the effort and the message considering the obvious limited budget. So called "decent" videos cost big bucks and are hardly worth it. This one delivers a message.

I actually like the world is spinning video... The guys put a lot of work into it and the video really makes a statement. The montages fit perfectly with what’s going on around our world and really makes a statement about how the band feels about some of the politics that are shaping our environment. The concert footage is also good and gives the video a good feel with cuts from shows all throughout the last 5ish years. Also, the graphics of at the beginning and the end of the actual spinning world is great-- flows perfectly with the music. And, the movement of bush's arm being in sync with the lyrics cannot be bough. I applaud the guys for going in another direction with their art and enjoy watching the video.

so much hostility out there. i too was once a biscuit hater, but i have been born again. they truly jam when seen live, but never quite get it done on disc. when live they are in tune with their crowd and play to them the way that phish did in their hayday, it is quite an experience. and maybe hardcore biscuit heads are tweekers maybe they have to be, but they have always been nice to me and they certainly treat eachother like family.

yeah really...what is exactly terrible about it... its a completely professional video with every element done with technical perfection. Is it just that people don't like to see the guys walking on the streets of Philly... thats not what the video is about. There needed to be some breaks and it couldn't just be old concert footage because that wouldn't be original. It really give a lot of personal meaning to the lyrics and obviously the band put a lot of thought into it and if they want to break up some of the song with them walking and looking in Philly... why not? I loved it

i have nothing against tweekers, just the assholes who think that their band is the best and can do no wrong. i never had a problem with phish's vocals and have loved the dead's vocals (besides Donna). it took me awhile to appreicate WSP for what they are. take SCI for example, they are talented musicians with potential, but their vocals and harmonies are bad and somewhat corny. i think it was a blessing that bill nershi left the band, i couldn't stand his voice. we can all have our opinions, but this rivalry has got to stop. i've seen the wsp fans bashing phish like crazy about 10 years or less ago. At the Phil shows last summer, people bashing the crap out of Trey and he was obviously the best guitar player on the tour. i haven't heard enough DB to give up on them. i also may give SCI a 2nd chance now that Bill's gone and if Keller was to join. still not crazy about them. THEIR VOCALS SUCK. BROWNSTEIN IS NOT A GREAT BASS PLAYER at all but I will say that the guitar is pretty good. They should stick to what they do....IM TIRED OF WEAK ASS BANDS LEADING THIS SCENE LATELY.... Biscuits are hightly overhyped. I LOVED PHISH and so does just about anyone whose seen them. What happen to the intelligence level in the scene. I GIVE IT UP TO ARTISTS LIKE ALO. THey are closer to being the next Phish, GD that anyone else. To many Phish fans that were initially into moe. don't listen anymore. And most Phish fans I know can't stand the hyper-anal grooves of Umphrey's...who also has terrible vocals. Seriously go to an ALO show if you want a complete "jamband"/ They can totally destroy the music into horrendous sonic swirls be it house, funk rock or something beautiful on the acoustic...then bring it back to pristine perfection. I also dig Keller and STS9. But for an overall jamband... I would take ALO over Moe., Umphrey's, DB and anyone else trying to be a traditional jamband. If you can't do that then you should stick to something your good at. We need more bands that balance songwriting/composition/and great vocals ...not the flat vocal ramblings I hear out of these guys(disco biscuits). Long live Phish.... up next ALO.

PLEASE... spare yourselves any Phish comparison. There is never going to be a time when Disco Biscuits sound half as good as Phish. They just aren't even in the same talent spectrum. Compare each person and each instrument and well....Phish wrote over 200 originals and played about 300 covers. They also broke records for highest attended live shows and for touring. They trained as a barbershop quartet and had awesome vocals that could melt your mind/heart. Trey wrote compositions (Y.E.M.) that hot air baloon could never touch. I'm sick of all the new idiots comparing bands to them. Although Phish is my favorite I will always give G. Dead major props for just writing great music and being pioneers for all of us. Our scene needs something besided Widespread, Moe, Umphrey's, Govt. Mule, Bob Weir and his bullshit anti-download mentality. That's exactly why I would never go to 10,000 lakes. They totally support the overhyped mega-crappy jamband. I can think of 4 better festivals this year. Wakarusa, High Sierra, All Good and Summercamp all seem to have much better tastes in the talent dept.

adam you make some good points and i am a big fan of alo, their crowd, their energy, their original compoitions. but hey are just a little bit fluffy for me, sure the chicks dig it and they come out in droves for the shows. but they just cant get dirty enough, their jams very rarely blow my mind, they also dont tou enough to be the next big thing, they like staying home and playing to their local crowds in their comfort zone. as far as the next big thing open your eyes and see that no band will be able to take over where phish left off except of course phish. we are firmly in the time of the festival and thay are the next big things. the promoters have taken over a seen that we created and are filling them with alt rock shit to make sure they sell enough tickets to make millions, with a few exeptions wich you already mentioned. i dont care what anybody says to me, Tom petty, My Morning Jacket, and whatever other bands they are adding to festivals this year to sell tickets are not jam bands and dont get it done for me personally but i guess you need the pop headliners these days to sell 60,000 tix in the middle of tennesee. i was there for the beginning and for now i feel that i am watching the end. for the true jam fest there is only one place left and it is in the middle of the ocean every january

bisco is great, can't wait to see them @ 10klf. Just wish the video was all about imagery and visuals. Yes we know they bring it live. I guess I was hoping to see something a little more artty and risky. (ex. Tortoise or Foutet videos) Adam has somewhat the right idea about the 10klf roster (maybe a little too jammy or not progressive enough), but the festival was founded on jam, and that is what bring the peeps in. You can't argue with business. I just would like to see a little more risk (not so safe)@ 10klf, Langerado does a great good at this. That being said can't wait to get down in Minnesota

Didn't Watch the video, but after reading the comments I gotta say 1 thing: Screw High Sierra and Bisco if you read this which I hope you do, don't go there. The vibe there is the best, but the police there are THE WORST. Not to mention the tons of fans that get busted every year, but bass player from the slip got busted for having mushrooms and the cops raided a tour bus because they smelled pot. I'd say keep makin more videos before you go to high sierra and get your fans arrested.

holy fucking shit. all right this whole jam scene seems to be undergoing ridiculous changes. Firstly, I'm not making any comparisons of any band to phish, but no bisco fan has the right to downplay phish or even trey. barber sights trey as an enormous influence for his music and it is clearly seen in quite a few bisco songs. and for the people who say "bisco ventures where no band will dare ever go" its because many of their songs lose complete and total structure. many may argue that the grateful dead lost structure too and that is true even phish did. but that doesn't make them a good band. Ive seen them twice and enjoyed the show. i didn't like them nearly as much when i wasnt high and trying to listen to the wind at four to fly got boring after 15 minutes. don't you ever fucking tell trey to drop the soap. you bisco fans need to use some. back me up people.

theres no need to compare a band lik bisco trey or even past years of phish, there totally differnt vibes man , i dont understand the negativity on trey either why bash on somehting that paved the way for bisco and other rock/jambands to come man.

^ schmirtz is right, you need to be on some serious drugs to like this band.... or maybe if you're 15 yrs old. the rap on phish was always that they can't sing but these guys take that to a whole new level. this band can't sing and when improv jamming they use the same licks over and over. truly horrible stuff...maybe that explains all the ketamine(rat sedative) at their shows.

on 3/16 jackiesoup wrote-"This video, this song, this band do nothing for me. They sound like a mess to me.
I saw them in '98 and I liked thought they were great.
Things change I guess."

what changed is jackiesoup grew up-probably turned 26 or 27 and realized how juvenile that whole scene is. this band is weak. they can kick out some ok jams but any musician knows when licks are overused. this is clearly a band for very young kids, let them wear their sunglasses in dark clubs and sell/take their ketamine/PCP/ rat/cat poison. in a few years they'll look back and laugh at themselves for liking this crap.

kinda sad that I can scroll through the entire list of replys and know EXACTLY what to expect - people whining about their scene, people dissing their musical abilities, and then the people who fuel that fire. Very sad that a band so big in our scene can engender such rage from human to human...

i think this video is awesome. I hate music videos, but this is really a striking, powerful piece of art. Sure, they had to get a little cheesey just because its a music video, what with the individual shots and whatnot... but i really like this; I think its great.

that, and i just have to say that all the people who diss the Disco Biscuit's musical abilities have obviously never heard anything live by them, because at least 70% of their songs contain some sort of odd-meter music, shifting time signatures and playing outside of the normal every bar being in 4/4 box. They can sing quite well too.

Just because YOU dont like it does not mean that there isn't talent involved. Thats such a childish, ignorant thing to say. Come on now, are you really that lame? I hope not.
