FLOYDFEST 6 - IT'S IN THE MIX! UPS THE ANTE
WITH NEW ARTIST ADDITIONS INCLUDING SAM BUSH AND RAILROAD EARTH
 Sam Bush |
With the onset of Spring comes the buzz of excitement that heralds a new season of music festivals, and eagerly anticipated line-up announcements and additions. FloydFest 6, dubbed 'It's in the Mix,' holds to its promise, mixing long-standing favorites with top-pick and emerging artists of extraordinary talent and diversity. On the seven stages at FloydFest, which include a showpiece timberframed 'Dreaming Creek main stage,' a 'Blue Ridge to Bayou dance tent stage,' an Appalachian-style 'workshop porch' and a 'Global Village stage', amongst others, music lovers can find something to appease the ficklest musical appetites. Across-the-Way Productions, promoters and producers of the annual event, today announced these latest additions to the 2007 artist roster:
Sam Bush, cofounder and leader of the seminal progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival through 18 years during the 1970's and 80's returns to FloydFest in 2007, after a hiatus from the roster for two years. Bush may not be the only person responsible for newgrass, the wild bluegrass stepchild that features rock 'n' roll grooves and extended virtuosic jams, but since New Grass Revival's dissolution in 1989, Bush has certainly been one of the most brilliant of newgrasses many bright lights.
Railroad Earth, a staple group on the national touring and festival scene, and the "in-demand band" of recent years at Floydfest, has built a huge following of loyal fans that document and trade every note they play, and often join them on the road for multiple nights.
FloydFest has hosted some of the finest performances from this group over the past several years, and fans will definitely want to mark this year's FloydFest date on their calendars.
From the bluegrass of Blue Highway to the newgrass of Sam Bush, from acoustic singer-songwriters to Aussie rockers Cat Empire, from the house rockin' Zydeco of Lil' Brian and the Zydeco Travellers to the African rock of Toubab Krew, from festival favorites Donna the Buffalo to Devotchka, the musical group who wrote the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack, and the "best band you've never heard of", FloydFest has well earned it's reputation as the best under-the-radar music festival.
The FloydFest 2007 Artist roster thus far includes:
Andy Palace & the Griffin Collective, North Mississippi Allstars, Sam Bush, Donna the Buffalo, Cat Empire, Railroad Earth, The Dunks, DeVotchKa, Midnite, The Waybacks, Toubab Krewe, Blue Highway, Hackensaw Boys, Langhorne Slim, Red Stick Ramblers, Feufollet, Lil'
