FLOYDFEST ADDITIONS

FLOYDFEST 6 - IT'S IN THE MIX! UPS THE ANTE
WITH NEW ARTIST ADDITIONS INCLUDING SAM BUSH AND RAILROAD EARTH

Sam Bush
With the onset of Spring comes the buzz of excitement that heralds a new season of music festivals, and eagerly anticipated line-up announcements and additions. FloydFest 6, dubbed 'It's in the Mix,' holds to its promise, mixing long-standing favorites with top-pick and emerging artists of extraordinary talent and diversity. On the seven stages at FloydFest, which include a showpiece timberframed 'Dreaming Creek main stage,' a 'Blue Ridge to Bayou dance tent stage,' an Appalachian-style 'workshop porch' and a 'Global Village stage', amongst others, music lovers can find something to appease the ficklest musical appetites. Across-the-Way Productions, promoters and producers of the annual event, today announced these latest additions to the 2007 artist roster:

Sam Bush, cofounder and leader of the seminal progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival through 18 years during the 1970's and 80's returns to FloydFest in 2007, after a hiatus from the roster for two years. Bush may not be the only person responsible for newgrass, the wild bluegrass stepchild that features rock 'n' roll grooves and extended virtuosic jams, but since New Grass Revival's dissolution in 1989, Bush has certainly been one of the most brilliant of newgrasses many bright lights.

Railroad Earth, a staple group on the national touring and festival scene, and the "in-demand band" of recent years at Floydfest, has built a huge following of loyal fans that document and trade every note they play, and often join them on the road for multiple nights. FloydFest has hosted some of the finest performances from this group over the past several years, and fans will definitely want to mark this year's FloydFest date on their calendars.

From the bluegrass of Blue Highway to the newgrass of Sam Bush, from acoustic singer-songwriters to Aussie rockers Cat Empire, from the house rockin' Zydeco of Lil' Brian and the Zydeco Travellers to the African rock of Toubab Krew, from festival favorites Donna the Buffalo to Devotchka, the musical group who wrote the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack, and the "best band you've never heard of", FloydFest has well earned it's reputation as the best under-the-radar music festival.

The FloydFest 2007 Artist roster thus far includes:

Andy Palace & the Griffin Collective, North Mississippi Allstars, Sam Bush, Donna the Buffalo, Cat Empire, Railroad Earth, The Dunks, DeVotchKa, Midnite, The Waybacks, Toubab Krewe, Blue Highway, Hackensaw Boys, Langhorne Slim, Red Stick Ramblers, Feufollet, Lil' Brian and the Zydeco Travelers, 3 Fox Drive, Erik Mongrain, Chuch, Appalacian Roots, Scythian, Rose's Pawn Shop, American Dumpster, Infamous Stringdusters, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Kusun Ensemble, Musicians from the Crooked Road, The Barrel House Mamas, Hope Massive, Telepath, Capoeirista, The Mammals, Mood Cultivation, High Society, Paul Curreri, The Wiyos, Smooth Kentucky, The Old Ceremony, Possum Junkins Band, Wild Turkeys, Kat Mills, Kill Basa Bill's Road Show, Carbon culture, Blue Mule, Anya & Jackson, Scott Perry, Bombadil, Spiral, Jan Smith, Sol Creech Band, Strut, The Seed, Morwenna Lasko & Jay Punn, William Walter & Co and Devon Sproule.

...stay tuned for more artist additions to come!

saw NMA open for Umphrey's this NYE and I gotta say there wasn't a whole lot they did that impressed me. It was pretty straight up rock and everyone around loved it but for me, I just stood there and watched 3 guys on stage. Hope to do well though, not hatin on their scene :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Floyd Fest a mostly bluegrass festival? NMAS seems an odd add on. But, I heard they've been doing accoustic only shows. I need to find one of those.

Hill Country Revue. Most awesome.

Saxophonist - Just speaking in generalizations here, but I'd kind of doubt a UM fan would like a first NMAS show sight unseen. NMAS is a really excellent live show, but I've seen a couple where... I hate to say it... they kind of mailed it in. Nice post by the way. You were able to voice a dissenting opinion without the bullshit negativity that is spreading throughout jambase.com.

I love floyedfest but Im not paying that kinda of cash for just NMA and toubab...now check out www.campbarefoot.org which is the same weekend for half the cash which it is in northern virginia and they already got booked Garaj Mahal, Barefoot Manner, RAQ, The Breakfast, Brothers Past, Yo Mama Big Fat Booty Band, The Bridge, The Itals straight from jamacia, Dub is a Weapon from NYC, DJ Williams Projekt and many others...now that is worth the money compared too NMA , I just can seeing paying $130 for them and a bunch of world music and you dont even get to camp by your car, you have to hike your shit in....Camp Barefoot 2 you get to camp by your car or tent camping....See you at the cove campground in gore, va in july nowhere near floyd....

Hey Scott - this isn't a NMA show! It's a fest! Did you see Donna and The Cat Empire on there? Those two are pretty big bands and Donna has been around forever, so they might charge you more than $30 to see them. Plus, The Duhks, Hackensaw Boys, and Toubab and NMA. This looks like a solid weekend to me.

And it's not world music dummy, it's roots music...big difference. They have some world beats, but it's mostly americana/roots style stuff.

Hey Floydfest, HOw bout them prices? You got a good lineup, but not a $125.00 Ticket. Your fests are way too overpriced, however it is good to see your lineup this year is the best yet!

Toubab, Cat Empire, NMA, and Hackensaw Boys are definately all great bands but NMA and toubab are both at B-Roo with a few other noteworthy acts (Panic, Cheese, STS9, ya know, bands like that) so I might have to throw an extra $100 and go to the roo this year, but seeing Donna and the Buffallo would definately be great, never have b4. Looks like a solid fest but I understand what people are saying about the ticket price, summercamp here in Illi-Noo-A is a good $100 cheaper and the lineup is redonkulous

NMA rocks. Donna is alright but Garaj Mahal doesn't come out east very often so I am gonna head to Winchester, VA to Camp Barefoot 2. I had some buddies go last year and they said it was pretty laid back and the music flowed so well. sorry floydfest not this year.

i don't think toubab is going to be at the roo this year,
for some reason they are choosing kinda slack, overpriced festivals to play at this summer( i.e. langerado and floyd)...
its a damn shame too.

Camp Barefoot would be better if they would add The Mantras! Check em out they'll be opening for Barefoot @ Lincoln Theater. www.themantras.net Been seeing music for a while and they are better than 95% of the bands at both! And if you want moderately priced festivals with THE BEST vibes at THE BEST festival venue on the east coast then go to Nelson Ledges Quarry Park!

Come on guys, Floydfest cannot be compared to Roo or Wakarusa. It's obviously much smaller and books grassroots bands that aren't "mainstream". If you're not into chillin up in the mountains away from roads and alot of people and would rather sweat your ass off in a crowded dusty pit, then go to bonaroo.

Hi and thanks to all who have taken the time to reply with positive comments. It's a shame that there are some individuals out there who find the need to perpetuate negativity. If you'll notice, Scott Mclain is indeed directly involved with CB. It's no wonder that he's so aggressive with his self interest. FloydFest is an A class Roots music festival and one look at our site www.floydfest.com will tell you a lot about the care and attention we put to every detail. We pride ourselves on A quality production, from the sound to the beautiful timber framed stages, our care about every patron, the clean and positive atmosphere on the grounds, and of course A list music that you'll have a hard time seeing anywhere else. FloydFest is not simply about the bands but about the experience in an increasingly homogenous world. We hope you'll take the same time that we take in presenting a top-notch event, to look a little deeper and find out for yourself the magic of FloydFest. Peace.

To whom it may concern..This is the organizer of CB2 yes Scott McLain and it is pretty sad that Chris Hodge is pointing fingers now...how do you know that this was even me, anybody can post under the name scottmclain which is what happen and yes once I found out who did it I did contacted that person and hopefully he will never post again, but calling me Low class on my voicemail, talk about low class your the one taking everybody money and charging $130 a ticket, and your saying its about the event, to me its seems its all about the money to you, so be professional and stop calling people out when you dont even know who really posted the comments, matter of fact maybe Ill start posting under the name chrishodge..how would you like that..I dont post on message boards for this reason only...everybody has their own opinion and if you can't take it then get out of the business, oh and yeah maybe lower your prices too....Its seems too funny that your worried about Camp Barefoot 2 when its a 1200 person event compared to your 10,000 person event...grow up Chris Hodge, or maybe get out of the sticks of Floyd and smell the real world...

OK guys this pissing contest needs to stop RIGHT NOW. Some people like chocolate ice cream, some people like vanilla ice cream. Floydfest will be around and Camp Barefoot will be around so you two need to stop fussing at each other and let the fans decide on which festival to go to.

I wish the moderator would take off every negative comment and end this dispute.

just my 2 cents.
